HB 1061/HB 1063, Nurse Licensure Compact

The bill seeks to address the shortage of health care providers and increase access to health care services by authorizing Florida to enter into the Nurse Licensure Compact with 25 other states. This will allow registered nurses and licensed practical nurses to obtain a multi-state license to practice in any state that is also in the compact thereby increasing the number of health care providers able to practice in Florida to care for our increasing and aging population.

HB 279, Pharmacy

The bill authorizes pharmacists to administer adult recommended vaccines and travel vaccines. The bill also allows pharmacy interns to administer vaccines, upon completion of a 20-hour program, under the supervision of a pharmacist.

2014

HB 7091, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services

The bill addresses a number of issues relating to the duties of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The bill allows landowners who miss the March 1 application deadline for obtaining an agriculture classification on their lands for property tax purposes to provide evidence to their property appraiser they were not able to do so in a timely manner to be granted the classification. The bill allows agriculture lands participating in a dispersed water storage program to retain an agricultural classification. The bill also repealed a pilot program related to the use of Australian pine trees and authorizes the use of the trees statewide as a windbreak for citrus groves.

HB 503, Municipal Governing Body Meetings

The bill authorizes a municipal governing body to hold joint meetings with the home county governing body or other municipal governing bodies to discuss and act on matters of mutual concern.

HB 1129, Infants Born Alive

The bill provides that an infant born alive, including one born alive during an attempted abortion, is entitled to the same rights, powers, and privileges as any child born in the course of natural birth.
